Opportunity International Network is a global coalition of microfinance companies and banks dedicated to helping those in poverty transforming their lives through the provision of micro enterprise financial services. The goal is to provide a bridge between the marginalized and the unemployed and opportunities for enterprise and income generation. We are seeking to recruit a Chief Executive Officer to manage a new banking start-up in Mozambique. The CEO will report into the local Board and the CEO of Africa Shared Services, the team that oversees the owned businesses in Africa.
The CEO must have the capacity to build an institution that can meet an ambitious goal of serving 80,000 savings and credit clients within 5 years. He or she will introduce and develop an innovative range of financial products to serve the poor in a profitable manner in Mozambique. He or she will have a good understanding of and experience in the implementation of standard retail banking operations, positioning our bank in Mozambique as a market leading financial institution enjoying sustainable growth and long term viability in a competitive environment.
• A university degree in any of the numerate business related subjects; Master’s degree is desirable
• Minimum 10 years overall relevant work experience, a minimum 5 (five) of which should have been board or senior management position in a retail bank or similar financial services company
• Detailed knowledge of banking products and services and general knowledge of a wide range of micro banking products and services
• Ability to read, write and converse in Portuguese is desirable
. Finally, he or she must be in sympathy with the Christian ethos of OI.
